What is Thymosin Alpha-1?

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a naturally occurring peptide first isolated from thymus tissue. It is N-terminally acetylated and derived from the precursor prothymosin α.

Mechanism of Action

Tα1 acts through Toll-like receptor signalling in dendritic and other immune cells, promoting T-cell differentiation and maturation, enhancing antigen presentation and modulating cytokine production.

Research Applications

Thymosin Alpha-1 is studied in research on immune function, chronic viral infection, vaccine response and immune ageing.

Storage & Handling

Supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for maximum stability. Store unopened vials at -20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe appropriate to your study protocol.
