What is TB-500?

TB-500 reproduces the sequence of Thymosin Beta-4, a 43-amino-acid peptide found in nearly all human and animal cell types and present at particularly high concentration in platelets and wound fluid. Its natural abundance at injury sites is part of what drew early research interest toward its role in tissue repair.

How it is understood to work

Thymosin Beta-4’s core activity is binding and sequestering monomeric G-actin, a function that regulates actin filament assembly and, by extension, the machinery cells use to migrate. In study models this has been linked to promoting angiogenesis, keratinocyte and endothelial cell migration, reduced local inflammation, and decreased fibrosis during tissue repair.
