What is Cagrilintide?

Cagrilintide is a lipidated, non-selective analogue of amylin—a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic β-cells. Structural modifications improve stability and enable albumin binding for an extended half-life.

Mechanism of Action

Cagrilintide activates amylin and calcitonin receptors, signalling satiety through the brainstem area postrema, slowing gastric emptying and suppressing post-meal glucagon. These pathways are complementary to GLP-1 signalling.

Research Applications

Cagrilintide is investigated in obesity and metabolic research, particularly in combination with semaglutide, where amylin and GLP-1 co-agonism is studied for additive effects on weight and glycaemic endpoints.

Storage & Handling

Supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for maximum stability. Store unopened vials at -20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe appropriate to your study protocol.
