What is Vilon?
Vilon, the dipeptide Lys-Glu, is one of the short peptide bioregulators developed by Vladimir Khavinson’s group in St. Petersburg and one of the smallest. It was derived from work on thymus extracts and is grouped with Thymogen as a thymic bioregulator.
How it is understood to work
Studies from the originating group report effects on T-lymphocyte differentiation and on heterochromatin decondensation in aging cells, and modeling work suggests the dipeptide can bind DNA. These findings have seen limited independent replication.
Research status
Research covers immune function and lifespan in rodents and fruit flies and cell-culture work on gene expression. It is preclinical, and the literature comes largely from one research network.

Handling & storage
Supplied as a lyophilized powder; store unopened vials at -20C away from light, and keep any reconstituted solution refrigerated at 2-8C for short-term use.

Questions
How does Vilon compare with Thymogen?
Both are thymic dipeptides: Vilon is Lys-Glu and Thymogen is Glu-Trp. They are studied separately and are not interchangeable.
Can a dipeptide really be verified?
Yes, but it needs mass spectrometry. At roughly 275 Da, Lys-Glu is best confirmed by a mass result matching the sequence, alongside HPLC purity.
