What is Oxytocin?
Oxytocin is a naturally occurring nonapeptide with an internal disulfide bridge, synthesized in the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary. How it is understood to work
Oxytocin acts on the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), a G-protein-coupled receptor expressed in the uterus, mammary gland, and multiple brain regions. Handling & storage
Supplied as a lyophilized powder; store unopened vials at -20C protected from light, and keep reconstituted solution refrigerated, since oxytocin’s disulfide bond and short peptide backbone make it susceptible to degradation at room temperature.
