What is VIP?

VIP is a neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon family, widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, gut and lungs.

Mechanism of Action

VIP acts on VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, producing smooth-muscle relaxation, vasodilation and bronchodilation. It also has strong anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effects and helps regulate circadian rhythms.

Research Applications

VIP is studied in research on pulmonary conditions, inflammatory and autoimmune processes, chronic inflammatory response syndromes and circadian biology.

Storage & Handling

Supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for maximum stability. Store unopened vials at -20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe appropriate to your study protocol.
