HMG (menotropins) is a purified preparation containing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH) activity in roughly equal proportions.

Mechanism of Action

FSH activity stimulates follicular development and spermatogenesis, while LH activity supports gonadal steroidogenesis, together acting directly on the gonads.

Research Applications

HMG is used in reproductive-endocrinology research on folliculogenesis, spermatogenesis and gonadotropin signalling.
